A MEISSNER speciality is the adiabatic process for the production of Mononitrobenzene. The adiabatic process is characterized by most favourable consumption figures and extremely low by-product formation. This very advantageous process could be improved further by using a new tube type reactor, which helps to reduce the by-product formation to even lower limits. A MEISSNER plant according to the new process, and with a capacity of 177,000 tons per annum, is operated since 1998 by the Dow Chemical subsidiary BSL in Böhlen, Germany.
